Description
LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions. If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.
Role Purpose
As Director, Telecom Programs Manager, you will lead the on-schedule, cost-effective delivery of LA28's telecommunications program in the years leading up to the Games. You will turn strategy into detailed plans, timelines, and budgets for venue-based telecom deployments, and coordinate telecom partners, venue teams, and the technology integrator to hit every milestone. You will build trusted relationships with suppliers, venue management, and regulatory bodies, manage day-to-day execution, and report clearly to senior leadership. This is a senior delivery role for a leader who thrives on complexity, ambiguity, and immovable deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
· Operationalize the telecom strategy into detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for venue-based telecom deployments.
· Coordinate telecom partners, venue teams, and the technology integrator so every program milestone is met on schedule.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with telecom suppliers, venue management, and regulatory bodies across the program.
· Manage day-to-day execution, tracking progress, resolving bottlenecks, and controlling the telecom services budget for savings.
· Lead risk management, escalations, and compliance reporting to senior leadership throughout delivery and Games-time operations.
Required Competencies
· 10+ years of experience in telecommunications program or project management, preferably for large-scale, complex events or venues.
· Proven success delivering end-to-end programs, including partner and vendor management, disciplined budget oversight, and proactive risk management.
· Ability to translate high-level strategy into actionable, detailed project plans that drive operational excellence under sustained pressure.
· Working familiarity with telecom infrastructure, including 5G, fiber networks, and WiFi, across temporary and permanent venue sites.
· Strong understanding of telecom regulatory environments and spectrum management, with excellent communication and reporting to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
Valued Experience
· PMP or a similar project management certification.
· Experience collaborating with government bodies or the FCC.
· Telecom delivery experience at major events or large venues.
· Experience managing a technology integrator and multiple telecom vendors.
· Background operationalizing strategy across temporary infrastructure.
What We Offer
· Ownership of a mission-critical telecom program for a once-in-a-generation Games.
· The scope to shape venue connectivity across an entire multi-venue delivery.
· A collaborative, inclusive Technology leadership team solving hard problems together.
· Purpose-driven work that contributes directly to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
What This Role Means for the Games
Telecom is the connective tissue of the Games, linking every venue, team, and operation. The program you deliver decides whether competition and non-competition venues stay connected under real Games-time pressure, making this one of the most consequential technology roles at LA28.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
· Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
· The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
· The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
· Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
· Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
