Senior Python ETL Developer

This is with a global IT services firm for a leading investment/wealth management services firm.
Client Location is downtown Toronto Ontario, close to TTC and GO service.
Hybrid - In Office 4 days per week.
Contract - 6 months, possible renewal
Target rate range: $70-85hr B2B

Project Description:
We are looking for a Software Engineer specializing in Python to design, develop, and potentially maintain scalable cloud-native applications and ETL data pipelines. The role includes API integrations, Kubernetes-based deployments, and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable applications using Python and Cloud / AWS services.
Own timelines and deliverables, proactively managing scope, dependencies, and execution risks
Independently design and deliver software solutions by engaging stakeholders and challenging assumptions
Build backend services and RESTful APIs aligned to those designs
Develop cloud-native applications (AWS preferred)
Implement workflow automation and data pipelines where needed
Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD
Ensure solutions are production-ready, including testing, documentation, and handover
Act as a reliable execution partner, escalating issues early when required

Mandatory / Must Have Skills:
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders
Strong working knowledge of Python 3.x fundamentals, including data structures, functions, modules, exception handling, and object-oriented programming
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-native applications
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Experience creating and maintaining ETL data pipelines
Experience developing and integrating APIs
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD tools, preferably GitHub Actions
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience using Pydantic
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot
Capital Markets domain knowledge
Trading / Portfolio Management experience is preferred.
