What you will do. A glimpse in your role:

As Managing Director Denmark, you will oversee one of Global Blue’s leanest but most dynamic organizations, operating in a highly competitive environment cantered around Copenhagen and the Kastrup Airport refund operations. You will combine strategic leadership with hands‑on operational involvement, ensuring excellence in day‑to‑day activities while driving long‑term growth.

You will work closely with your manager to shape and implement the country strategy, while actively engaging with merchants, airport stakeholders, Customs (SKAT), and your internal team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a versatile position—balancing commercial development, operational oversight, and strategic execution—within a Nordic market that demands agility, strong relationships, and high market‑share defence.

Main responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will span both strategic and operational dimensions, including:

Strategic & Business Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and execute business strategies to achieve short‑ and long‑term goals.
  • Drive market growth by hunting and farming merchant partnerships in a competitive landscape.
  • Prepare business plans to improve cost‑efficiency and operational performance.
  • Lead strategy reviews and business development initiatives, identifying opportunities in current and new segments.

Operational & Team Management

  • Ensure excellence in airport refund operations, coordinating closely with the Refund Manager and refund agents.
  • Support and supervise Key Account Managers in merchant management and sales activities.
  • Address day‑to‑day operational issues with merchants, including IT‑related matters.
  • Manage hiring, terminations, salary reviews, and bonus decisions in alignment with line management.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain strong relations with business partners, authorities, and key stakeholders such as Customs, Airports, and Government bodies.
  • Negotiate with airport authorities on operational contracts and collaborations.
  • Lead relationships with banks and acquiring partners to drive business development.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, rules, and company policies.
  • Provide monthly reports, market insights, and strategic advice to upper management.
  • Oversee internal and external communications and key business documentation.

Every action has an impact. You will make a difference here if:

  • You thrive in a role that combines strategy with operational immersion, and you are comfortable “getting your hands dirty” when needed.
  • You bring strong leadership, motivating diverse teams and leading by example.
  • You can diagnose business issues quickly and take decisive actions when performance deviates from expectations.
  • You build trusted relationships with merchants, institutions, and partners, acting as the face of Global Blue in Denmark.
  • You can manage multiple business functions simultaneously while keeping strategic priorities clear.

Key competencies to empower your journey. You’ll drive towards success if:

  • You demonstrate sharp business judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with business intelligence and big data to identify opportunities.
  • You are skilled in negotiation, contract management, and partnership development.
  • You excel in communication and interpersonal relations, both internally and externally.
  • You show excellent organizational and leadership capabilities, including crisis management and decision‑making under pressure.
  • You have solid financial competencies, being able to use dashboards and reporting systems to drive performance.
  • You are proficient in MS Office and used to working with ERP, CRM, and financial/reporting systems.
  • Fluent English is required
