Description

The City of Liberty is looking for a PR & Communications Manager to help lead the team responsible for telling the City’s story and connecting our community with the people, programs and services that make Liberty a great place to live. The work you do here helps residents understand their City, connects people with services and programs, supports City employees and leadership, and builds trust throughout the community.

This is a leadership role with plenty of room to be creative, strategic and hands-on. You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the PR & Communications Department while working alongside a close-knit team that includes a Tourism Marketing Strategist, Marketing & Special Event Supervisor and a brand-new Content Creator position. Under the direction of our Chief Strategic Communications Officer, you’ll help shape the City’s brand, messaging, marketing and public engagement efforts.

  • Lead and supervise the PR & Communications team and department operations.
  • Develop and execute brand, marketing and social media strategies that support City goals.
  • Write, edit and oversee content for publications, websites, social media and marketing materials.
  • Support media relations, including press releases, media advisories and media inquiries.
  • Help guide the City’s communications during crises and public issues.
  • Oversee content calendars and collaborate with writers, designers and team members on campaigns and publications.
  • Partner with City departments and community organizations on marketing, outreach and public engagement.
  • Help promote City programs, services, tourism and special events.
  • Monitor brand mentions and audience engagement and build community partnerships.
  • Prepare presentations, reports and communications for City leadership, committees and community groups.
  • Stay current on industry trends and bring new ideas and innovation to the team.
  • 3–5 years of experience in journalism, public relations, business communications or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, business communications or a related field.
  • Experience with marketing, public relations, brand management and social media strategy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with project management and/or special event planning.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor and develop employees and volunteers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

We’re a small but mighty team. We work hard, collaborate often and take pride in what we produce—but we also value flexibility, trust and work/life balance. If you’re someone who can move comfortably between big-picture strategy and rolling up your sleeves to get the work done, you’ll fit right in here!
