We are seeking an experienced and motivated VP, Ag & Commercial Banking Relationship Manager in our Galesburg location to develop and manage relationships with agricultural and commercial customers while growing a high-quality loan portfolio. This role serves as a trusted financial partner to clients, helping them achieve their business objectives through customized banking solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural and commercial lending, business development, credit analysis, and portfolio management. This individual will support lending operations and help ensure the continued success of our customers and communities.
What You will do:
Relationship Management & Business Development
- Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with agricultural producers, agribusinesses, and commercial clients.
- Identify new business opportunities and proactively generate loan and deposit growth.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by recommending financing solutions, capital structures, and banking products that support customer goals.
- Meet or exceed established goals for new business development, loan growth, deposit growth, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Conduct regular client and prospect calls to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to better serve customer needs.
- Represent the bank within the community through participation in local organizations, events, and business development activities.
Credit & Portfolio Management
- Manage and service a substantial portfolio of agricultural and commercial lending relationships.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow, collateral, repayment capacity, and industry trends to assess creditworthiness.
- Structure loan relationships to balance customer needs with the bank's profitability and risk management objectives.
- Prepare, review, and present credit requests and lending recommendations.
- Participate in Credit Committee discussions and lending decisions.
- Monitor portfolio quality and proactively manage risk to maintain a strong and profitable portfolio.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all lending activities comply with bank policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support the bank's commitment to sound risk management practices and operational excellence.
- Maintain a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including lending compliance and customer protection regulations.
- Uphold the bank's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional customer service.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Agriculture, or a related field.
- 8+ years of relatable experience in agricultural and/or commercial banking.
- Demonstrated success in business development, relationship management, and portfolio growth.
- Strong background in credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, and risk management.
- Knowledge of agricultural and commercial lending markets and industry trends.
- Understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client service abilities.
- Proficiency with banking systems, financial analysis tools, and Microsoft Office products.
