About the Role:

The Operations Manager provides leadership for the activities and personnel within our metal fabrication operations to obtain a safe, efficient, productive, and economical manufacturing operation. Increases the ratio of value to non-value and eliminates waste in the overall supply chain from start to finish, and ensures that the value stream meets or exceeds customer requirements. 

This role requires strategic vision and execution. Needs to be able to plan and adjust production on a weekly basis while understanding those effects on annual plans. Also needs to have the ability to inspire and motivate team members as well as resource management skills to deliver against performance objectives focused on continuous improvement and people development within the value stream to achieve world class performance. 

Responsibilities:  

• Leads the cross functional, production based value stream team in the preparation and implementation of operating plans and strategies consistent with promoting the Mission, Vision, and Values while supporting the business objectives/goals. 
•  Tracks daily performance. Verifies Operational Leader counter measures and recovery plans are in place for missed targets. Ensures production control boards are being used on a daily basis. 
• Responsible for leading S&OP process within multiple brands.
• Responsible for understanding latest industry processes to achieve world class performance within the Value Stream. 
• Alignment with the Sales & Marketing Team with the ability to understand the core market segments, participate in various levels of interactions with our customers
• Recommends and implements changes regarding production capability, tooling, machine replacement and staffing to support production plans and cost-effective procedures, systems, tooling, equipment, etc., to continually improve manufacturing productivity.    
• Participates, monitors and maintains adherence to established departmental budgets, both expense and capital. 
• Develops open lines of communication to continually monitor employee attitudes and concerns, and implements appropriate actions with input from Human Resources.    
• Oversees requisitioning, placing, training, directing, appraising, promoting, disciplining, or other actions relating to the employees assigned to the Value Stream.
• Provides, implements, and administers timely quality assurance and engineering control functions to ensure product reliability and conformance to customer and federal specifications in the most effective and economical manner possible. 
• Ensures the proper application of established employee regulations, policies, wage and salary administration policies, and safety and health regulations.       
• Provides coaching, information, ideas, feedback and encouragement to team leaders, team members and manufacturing leaders to promote the growth and development.
• Assists with developing and implementing current and future state value stream maps and continuous focus on utilizing best practices to drive efficiencies and productivity gains.     
• Assures a clean and safe working environment for all employees, maintaining 5S standards. Addresses unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Participates in accident investigations as required.        
• Drives a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making as well as recognizing them for exceptional work.      

Requirements

Education/Training:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Minimum 7-10 years manufacturing management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required 
• Previous leadership experience within a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or similar production environment is strongly preferred 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Computer literate with strong analytical skills required 
• Knowledge of Lean principles required

Travel Requirements:

• Less than 25%

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to lift at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. for short periods

Materials and Equipment Utilized:

• Hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, power tools, etc.)
• Computers, printers, etc.

Working Environment:

• 35% Manufacturing: clean, low to moderate noise, safety glasses required and other personal protective equipment (PPE) where applicable.
• 65% - Office
