Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our MassMutual 7 Cardiac Heart Failure at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our MassMutual 7 unit has 32 private rooms and provides a full array of services for patients diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF) to include the medical management of the advanced heart failure patients as well as pre and post care for cardiac catheterization, ablation, pacer placement, cardioversion and TAVR (Transcatheter aortic valve replacement). Baystate Medical Center now uses CardioMEMS, a new technology that reduces hospitalizations and improves quality of life for heart failure patients.

We can unblock your artery up to 25 minutes sooner than the national standard. In fact, Baystate is in the top 10% of hospitals nationwide when it comes to this life-saving treatment.

• Baystate Medical Center is the only hospital in our area that can stop a heart attack instantly by unblocking an artery. And we can do this procedure 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• Baystate Medical Center’s experts perform more than 80% of all cardiac surgeries in western Massachusetts. When it comes to heart surgery, we are one of the top three highest-volume medical centers in Massachusetts.

The Patient Care Technician Will:

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.  
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.  
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.  
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.  
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

• Hours: 36
• Schedule: Three twelve hour shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills 

• High School diploma or GED
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care
• PCT training or CNA training

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
