We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Worker who has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users and their families, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs.  No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.

 

Where: Based in Huddersfield - working across Kirklees

Hours: Part Time, 18.75 hrs per week Including evening work (Tuesdays 9am to 8pm & Wednesdays 9am to 5.45pm)

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

Are you passionate about supporting families affected by drugs and alcohol? Do you believe in the power of recovery, resilience, and community support?

 

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Family Worker focus to join our Adult Substance Use Service in Kirklees based within the Family Team. This rewarding role focuses on supporting families, carers, and loved ones who are impacted by someone else's substance use, helping them access practical support, build resilience, and improve their wellbeing.

 

You will play a key role in developing and delivering support services for families and carers, working collaboratively with local organisations, mutual aid groups, volunteers, and treatment teams to ensure that those affected receive the right support at the right time.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individuals and families affected by substance use.
  • Working intensively with families experiencing drug and/or alcohol‑related challenges.
  • Facilitating both individual and group interventions (e.g. one to one support/access to group programmes.
  • Working closely alongside the wider team to identify and respond to need.
  • Promoting recovery, resilience, and social reintegration into the community.
  • Liaison with third sector and statutory services.
  • Onward referrals to specialist services.

About you: 

 

  • Have a good understanding of substance use issues and experience of working with people 
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and skills in defensible documentation
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills 
  • Have a good working knowledge of family services and frameworks and interventions for whole family practices  
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users 
  • Ability to demonstrate professional curiosity, caseload management and flexibility to achieve personalised treatment and care 
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards 
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
