We are looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Warehouse Operator.
The role will report into the Warehouse Manager and the role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.
Purpose of the role:
- The Warehouse Operator is responsible for accurately picking, packing, labelling and preparing customer orders for dispatch while maintaining inventory accuracy, quality standards and safety requirements. The incumbent ensures that all products are handled correctly, orders are fulfilled on time and warehouse housekeeping standards are maintained
The job responsibilities:
- Accurately picks items and Bill of materials according to customer orders and picking instructions
- Verifies product descriptions, quantities, part numbers, sales orders and Job numbers before picking
- Packs products according to Sandvik standards to prevent damage during transportation
- Labels and stages completed orders for dispatch
- Ensures customer orders are completed accurately and within required timeline
- Responsible for receiving, unloading, loading and put away activities
- Receives incoming goods and verifies quantities, descriptions and condition against delivery documentation
- Reports shortages, damages and discrepancies to the supervisor and Receiving clerk
- Offloads vehicles safely and efficiently using appropriate material handling equipment and procedures
- Load customer orders and outbound shipments accurately and securely to prevent damage during transit
- Conducts put-away activities and ensures stock is stored in designated locations
- Operates warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts where authorized and trained
- Assist with cycle counts, stock takes and inventory investigations
- Ensures picking and packing documentation is completed accurately
- Meets daily picking and packing productivity targets
- Maintains warehouse cleanliness in allocated work areas
- Ensures housekeeping standards are adhered to throughout the shift
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all warehouse activities
- Maintains a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Takes ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and responsibilities
- Demonstrates reliability, punctuality and flexibility to support operational requirements
- Displays a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
- Participates in training and development programs to enhance skills and performance
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty when handling company assets and inventory
- Willingly assists in other warehouse functions as required to support business objectives
- Supports Sandvik Core Values and contributes positively to Sandvik strategy
- Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Maintains a clean, safe and organised work area always
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses to the supervisor
- Uses warehouse equipment and tools safely and in accordance with operating procedures
- Participates in safety meetings and training sessions as required
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
- Grade 12
- 3+ years warehousing work experience in similar environment
