The Temporary Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services to support the health, safety, and well-being of Ball State University student-athletes. This position assists with the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses and provides coverage for practices, competitions, and other team activities as assigned.What you'll do and what you'll bring:
Position Description:
Provide athletic training services to assigned athletic teams, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support.
Provide athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, and other athletic events.
Maintain appropriate medical documentation and injury records in accordance with department and University procedures.
Collaborate with team physicians, athletic trainers, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and other members of the sports medicine team.
Assist with emergency care and implementation of established emergency action plans.
Maintain appropriate athletic training supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
Promote a safe and professional environment for student-athletes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Current certification as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
Eligibility for or current Indiana athletic training licensure.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and nontraditional hours as required by athletic schedules.
Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with student-athletes, coaches, medical professionals, and athletics staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous athletic training experience in a collegiate athletics setting.
Experience providing coverage for intercollegiate practices and competitions.
Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
Work Environment:
This is a temporary position supporting the University’s intercollegiate athletics program. Work hours will vary based on team schedules and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as assigned. The position requires the ability to work in athletic training facilities, practice facilities, competition venues, and other athletics environments.
