Position: Per Diem Student Intern Respiratory Therapist

Department: CPS

Shift: Varied  

‍PURPOSE

Under the general supervision of the preceptor designee, the intern will acquire knowledge and develop skills through experiences in the departments of respiratory therapy, sleep center, EKG, EEG, holter monitors, and stress testing. You will perform assigned duties in an effective manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your manager to assure that a successful viable department is maintained at all times.

Under the direction of the Director Cardio Pulmonary and Rehabilitation Services (CPRS), performs a variety of Cardio Pulmonary Procedures and Sleep Studies under general supervision. Must care for a patient population, which includes adolescents and geriatrics; therefore, must be able to identify the special needs of each patient procedures/treatments and performs other related duties as assigned.

‍QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be currently enrolled in a university program as a respiratory therapy student.
• Must have a temporary license from the state of Ohio.
• Must have complete understanding of all respiratory procedures and sterile techniques.
• Must have basic knowledge of how a respiratory department functions.
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong motivation to work with long term and acute care patients.
• Must be able to prioritize and work with general supervision.
• Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in emergencies.
• Must be able to make quick decisions when necessary.
