Job Overview

Equipment Maintenance, Team Travel & Administration: Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of rowing equipment and boathouse assets, including fiberglass and carbon repairs, hull patching, rigger and seat track adjustments, shell repair and painting, oar handle replacements, shaft repairs, blade edge sanding and taping, and Peach system installation. Maintains and repairs launches, engines, ergs, trailers, and other equipment as needed to ensure safe and reliable operation. Provides trailer driving support for local and cross-country competitions and training trips and establishes safe, efficient trailer-loading protocols that maximize available space, particularly when transporting equipment for multiple programs. Contributes to annual budget development and review for boathouse operations, including equipment purchases, routine and major maintenance, gasoline, spare parts, race course installation and maintenance, safety equipment, and truck, launch, and trailer registration and inspection fees.

Work Interactions

Reports to the Head Men’s Rowing Coach (or designee). The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics (or designee). There is one full-time Assistant Lightweight Coach and one 10-month Assistant

Lightweight Coach for men’s rowing. The Boatman position will also support the women’s rowing program (head coach, varsity coach, one full time assistant coach and one 10-month assistant coach.)

 

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, academic eligibility requirements, and retention of student-athletes.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.
• Ability to drive a truck and shell trailer.
• Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications.
• Available weekends and evenings.
• Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University.
• Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
