The role has responsibilities such as:
- Determining appropriate reliability testing requirements for products; review product requirement specifications to develop sub-assembly or system-level test plans.
- Developing and executing to our schedules for Reliability and V&V testing of products. Testing for reliability includes regulatory pre-compliance and lifetime, including transportation – drop, shock, and vibration, long-term operating life, (HALT and HTOL – high temperature high humidity), thermal cycling, mechanical wear-out tests, etc.
- Taking ownership of test processes: creating test protocols, setup of test apparatus, execution of tests, analysis of data, and preparation of technical reports.
- Applying Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, or other statistical methods to identify failure patterns and assist in the elimination of defects.
- Coordinating with external test bodies for regulatory compliance.
- Developing test fixtures including Electro- and Opto- mechanical elements.
- Troubleshooting of problems with units under test or with the test tools – software, fixtures, and instrumentation.
- Analysis of unit failures; Identify problems in design or manufacturing and assist with the implementation of solutions.
Outcomes of testing will elicit any points of failure or modes of performance degradation, this will inform improvements, and will ultimately demonstrate that Cylite products are able to survive for their expected service life and comply with the product qualification criteria - as specified in regulatory testing standards (such as IEC60601 or ISTA Safe Transit testing).
