Overview

The Assistant Growth Officer supports the Growth Department in identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities within the government contracting market.

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, this role provides critical operational and analytical support across pipeline management, market research, proposal coordination, and client engagement activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a rising business development professional to build hands-on experience across the full capture and proposal lifecycle in a small-business environment where individual contributions directly influence company growth and revenue outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline & Opportunity Management

  • Maintain and update the company's opportunity pipeline (CRM) with accurate data on active pursuits, stage gates, and forecasted award values
  • Monitor SAM.gov, GovWin, eBuy, and other government procurement platforms to identify new solicitations, RFIs, sources sought notices, and forecasted opportunities aligned with company capabilities
  • Support pipeline reviews and prepare status reports, dashboards, and metrics for leadership and Growth Department meetings

Capture & Business Development Support

  • Assist Capture Managers and the Chief Growth Officer with opportunity qualification (go/no-go analysis), competitive assessments, and win-strategy development
  • Conduct market research on customer agencies, incumbent contractors, budget trends, and competitor positioning to inform pursuit strategy
  • Coordinate teaming partner communications, NDAs, and teaming agreements in support of active pursuits
  • Support customer engagement activities, including preparation for industry days, agency briefings, and one-on-one meetings

Proposal Development

  • Support proposal development as a Proposal Manager by overseeing schedules, compliance checklists, and document templates in coordination with the proposal/capture team
  • Manage working groups to formulate solutions addressing solicited requirements (e.g., technical, staffing, performance, management, and quality assurance)
  • Support Key and Non-key personnel recruiting and engagement to include negotiation of Contingent Offers of Employment and Letters of Intent commitments as required to satisfy solicitation requirements and to inform proposal solutions
  • Assist with drafting, formatting, and editing proposal sections (to include necessary graphics)
  • Coordinate internal reviews (color team reviews), track action items, and ensure on-time proposal submission

Administrative & Cross-Functional Support

  • Maintain growth-related records, contract vehicle documentation, and past performance/reference databases
  • Support special projects and other duties assigned by the Chief Growth Officer to advance the company's growth objectives

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Three or more years of experience in business development, capture, proposal support, or a related role in a government contracting environment
  • Familiarity with the federal procurement process, including FAR basics, RFP/RFI structures, and common contract vehicles (GSA Schedules, GWACs, IDIQs).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, small-team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain the level of security clearance required by contract
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with a CRM platform and/or GovWin IQ is a plus

Desired

  • Seven or more years prior military experience
  • Relevant experience outside of proposal management (e.g., project management, capture management, account management) that enriches proposal management capabilities
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Self-starter who thrives in a small-company setting with broad, cross-functional responsibilities
  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively with capture managers, proposal writers, and executive leadership
  • Comfortable balancing competing deadlines across multiple simultaneous pursuits

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (in lieu of degree, candidates must have at least seven years of related experience)
