Overview
The Corps Ministries Assistant supports the daily ministry and administrative operations of the church, with primary responsibility for coordinating and planning the church’s music programs and assisting with the financial recordkeeping of the Corps.
This position works closely with the Corps Officers, church leadership, musicians, volunteers, and other ministry leaders to ensure that worship and music programs are organized, prepared, and effective. The Corps Ministries Assistant is also responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with the bookkeeping needs of the church.
The ideal candidate should be organized, dependable, comfortable working with both people and financial information, and committed to supporting the mission and ministry of the church.

Some evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required for worship services, rehearsals, special programs, and church events.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the church’s music ministry and music-related programs.
- Work with Corps Officers and ministry leaders to plan music for Sunday worship services, special services, holidays, and church events.
- Schedule musicians, vocalists, worship teams, bands, choirs, and other music ministry participants.
- Coordinate rehearsals and communicate schedules, music selections, and expectations to participants.
- Help recruit, develop, and encourage volunteers who participate in the music ministry.
- Maintain an organized library of sheet music, chord charts, worship resources, and other music materials.
- Assist with preparing lyrics, presentations, and other worship materials as needed.
- Coordinate music for special events such as Christmas programs, Easter services, community events, youth programs, and other Corps activities.
- Ensure instruments, microphones, music equipment, and other ministry resources are properly organized and available for rehearsals and services.
- Work with sound, media, and technology volunteers to support the needs of worship services and music programs.
- Help develop new music programs and opportunities that encourage participation from children, youth, adults, and other members of the church.
- Maintain regular communication with Corps Officers regarding the needs, schedules, and development of the music ministry.
Bookkeeping and Financial Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for the church.
- Record income, expenses, deposits, payments, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and process deposits in accordance with church policies and procedures.
- Assist with accounts payable, including processing invoices, reimbursements, and approved payments.
- Maintain records of receipts, invoices, purchase documentation, and other financial documents.
- Assist with reconciling bank statements and financial accounts.
- Track church and ministry expenses to ensure they are recorded under the appropriate accounts and programs.
- Assist Corps Officers with preparing financial reports as requested.
- Help monitor ministry budgets and provide updates regarding spending and available funds.
- Maintain confidentiality when working with financial records, donations, personnel information, and other sensitive information.
- Follow all established church, denominational, and organizational financial policies and procedures.
- Assist with preparing financial records for audits, reviews, or year-end reporting when required.
General Ministry and Administrative Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Corps Officers and church ministries as needed.
- Assist with planning and coordinating church programs, services, meetings, and special events.
- Communicate with volunteers, church members, ministry leaders, and community partners when necessary.
- Maintain calendars, schedules, records, and ministry-related documentation.
- Attend staff meetings and ministry planning meetings as requested.
- Help create a welcoming, organized, and supportive environment for church members, volunteers, and visitors.
- Assist with other ministry or administrative duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in music, business, accounting, ministry, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience participating in or coordinating church music, worship teams, choirs, bands, or similar music programs preferred.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping practices.
- Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, and office software.
- Experience with accounting or bookkeeping software is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, musicians, church members, and community members.
- Ability to handle financial and personal information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work some evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as ministry needs require.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a ministry team.
Preferred Music Skills
- Experience leading or participating in worship music.
- Ability to read music, chord charts, or lead sheets.
- Ability to play one or more musical instruments is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with worship presentation software, audio equipment, or church media systems is a plus.
- Experience working with musicians of different ages and skill levels is preferred.
