The Role
The Role This role is part of the European Project Management Team (a branch of the European Change Team), consisting of Project Managers spread across five countries. The team works closely with other branches within the European Change Team, like the Business Analysts Team and Product Owner Team. The combined aim is to deliver a portfolio of strategic, operational and regulatory change and achieve tangible business benefits, with cooperation of other European functions and local country teams. The main focus of this role is leading the successful delivery of strategic change, digital and operational excellence initiatives across Europe, and also leading and managing components of our large transformation programmes that are in flight. This role requires good project management across different levels of complexity combined with an ability to connect and work effectively with various stakeholders across Europe. The projects vary from performing market and business performance assessments, supporting the deep dive on strategic assessments to improvement of organizational effectiveness, customer experience, operational excellence, selecting and applying innovative technology to business problems and/or compliance with regulatory requirements with a direct or indirect impact on the P&L of the European business. Initiatives in the past have included the definition of the Direct business strategy, streamlining of operational processes, implementation of financial crime prevention tools, assessment and implementation of technologies to enhance operational effectiveness or replace legacy tools. Considering our transformation journey, this role is also expected to have great skills in leading hybrid business and technology projects in order to support a smooth and effective change journey.
Key responsibilities
Main activities for this role should be:
- Act as the linking pin between the European business and functions, IT and Group teams when relevant
- Build strong productive relationships with the managers and staff within the European Business and across IT in order to facilitate effective business change based on a deep understanding of the business drivers of each party
- Develop and execute project plans to identify and manage project requirements, resources and dependencies
- Apply the European project governance (and provide input on designing/optimizing this governance)
- Support or lead the delivery of each project against agreed goals, timelines and budget; escalating problems and risks where needed
- Contribute to the use and monitoring of metrics to track progress and highlight issues on a timely basis
- Coordinate the project team and support business analysts and SMEs in delivering the agreed outcomes
- Communicate frequently and comprehensively to ensure the alignment and support of the teams involved in Europe, IT and Group
- Actively support local business owners in the European branches to drive change
- Support or perform stakeholder management by keeping stakeholders updated on project progress and ensuring delivered outcomes meet their needs
- Support and lead change initiatives by applying Hiscox project management methodologies and best practices when conducting projects
- Review business analysis outputs and help keep deliverables aligned with IT and overall Hiscox Europe strategies
Technical must-haves
- Masters’ degree ideally in Management / Economics / Engineering (or similar)
- At least 3 years of experience in strategic, operational and/or technological consulting, ideally having worked on digital transformation projects and/or with exposure to the insurance business
- Experience with regulatory related change in insurance/financial industry (IDD, GDPR/Privacy, AML/KYC projects) is preferred
- Experience in supporting or coordinating technology projects in complex multicultural organisations is preferred
- Experience in participating and/or leading projects using agile methodology
- Good Project Management skills – PMP and/or CIPP/E or similar qualifications would be an advantage
- Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory
- Fluency in other European languages is preferred (German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Flemish)
- Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and other Microsoft Office tools Knowledge of Lean methodologies is preferred
