PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges.

PATH is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Consultant – Health Economics & Financing. This is a cross-functional role designed to strengthen PATH India's ability to mobilize resources, shape markets, and develop sustainable financing models for health programs.

The consultant will work closely with technical program teams, external affairs team, governments, donors, private sector partners, and global colleagues to generate economic evidence and identify innovative financing approaches that enable scale and sustainability. Beyond traditional health economic analyses, the role will explore blended finance, outcome-based financing, market shaping, private sector engagement, health insurance mechanisms, catalytic investments, and other emerging financing models that can accelerate impact.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex financing challenges and translating economic insights into practical strategies for program implementation and resource mobilization.

  • Lead economic evaluations across projects including cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, return-on-investment, budget impact, affordability, and costing analyses.
  • Develop investment cases demonstrating the value proposition of health interventions for governments, donors, and investors.

Cross-functional Strategic Support

  • Work closely with technical teams across disease programs to integrate health economics into program design.
  • Assess market opportunities and financing gaps across disease areas and health systems.
  • Support proposal development by incorporating robust economic analyses, investment cases, financing strategies, and sustainability plans.
  • Collaborate with country and global teams to strengthen PATH's positioning with donors and partners.
  • Develop publications, policy briefs, donor reports, technical papers, and thought leadership products.
  • Monitor emerging trends in global health financing, donor priorities, and innovative financing mechanisms.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with governments, multilateral agencies, philanthropic organizations, academia, financial institutions, and private sector partners.
  • Represent PATH in technical working groups, financing discussions, and external consultations.
  • Support advocacy efforts by translating economic evidence into policy recommendations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Health Economics, Economics, Public Health, Health Policy, Health Financing, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in health economics, health financing, health systems, market access, HEOR, consulting, or development sector organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting economic evaluations and developing investment cases.
  • Strong understanding of health financing systems and global health funding architecture.
  • Experience working with governments, donors, development partners, or multilateral agencies.
  • Experience in guiding/developing dashboards and data visualization products.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to connect economics to policy and implementation.
  • Strong business development orientation with experience supporting fundraising and proposal development.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex evidence into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
