Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $116,956 to $193,054, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Division of Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYF) is committed to delivering integrated, equitable, and evidence-based programs and services that ensure children and youth grow up safe and healthy while supporting families and individuals to achieve optimal well-being, economic stability, and self-sufficiency. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Chief to support these service areas. This pivotal role involves providing leadership and oversight to foster an equitable community health and social system that empowers residents of all ages. The position will support the CYF Chief and Social Services Officer. This position also manages staff in our CYF Special Projects, Community Action Agency, and Lighthouse programs. 

This position will serve as the Deputy Chief for the CYF service area, providing leadership and oversight in efforts to promote an equitable community health and social system that strengthens residents across the lifespan. The position provides ongoing support to the CYF Chief. The position will provide management to the CYF Special Projects, Community Action Agency, and Lighthouse programs. The position is key to CYF operations and is responsible for monitoring and oversight of program performance across CYF programs and will serve as the lead in implementing programmatic initiatives related to continuous quality improvement (CQI), quality assurance (QA), and strategic planning. The position serves as a proxy for the CYF Chief and serves as a key senior-level leader within DHHS and CYF. The Deputy Chief for CYF cultivates collaborative relationships and engagement with community partners, including State and County agencies, Boards and Commissions, Community-Based Organizations, and internal HHS programs. The position will supervise three (3) MLS Manager III positions.

Background Statement:  A criminal background and credit history check will be conducted on the selected candidate prior to appointment and will be a significant factor in the hiring decision.

Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in a field related to the provision of services related to children, youth, and families, i.e., designing, implementing, and evaluating programs and services for children, youth, and families, to include three years of which were in a supervisory or executive capacity. Note: The term “executive” is further defined as a high echelon or high-level position in an organization that is assigned technical research, management advisory services responsibilities, or policy-making duties and responsibilities that exerts considerable influence on organizational policy, plans, and operations through technical research, management advisory services, and/or policy-making duties and responsibilities (e.g., County positions at Grade 30 or above). 

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. 

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Desired Experience:  Candidates with experience overseeing youth development initiatives, immigrant-serving programs, economic development efforts, anti-poverty work, or comparable community-focused activities are strongly preferred.
