Overview

Kimley-Horn's St. Paul, Minnesota (MN) office is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1.5+ years of experience to join our growing Building Structures team. If you are a collaborative and creative engineer who enjoys working on a variety of building projects and client types this is the position for you.

 

As a Structural Engineer with Kimley-Horn, you will benefit from hands-on experience, technical and consulting training, mentorship opportunities, and developmental programs geared towards growing Kimley-Horn’s next generation of leaders. With support from your team, you will work on projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, ideal for engineers eager to grow their technical and creative skills. Responsibilities

  • Develop skills as a project engineer by assisting with the delivery, design, and detailing of projects while working with more senior staff and BIM staff who will coach, guide, and support your growth
  • Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages while working with a larger design team
  • Lead and provide support for structural construction phase efforts on building projects
  • Support your design and collaborate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members
  • Serve as a technical and professional mentor to entry-level and developing engineers
  • Conduct site visits when needed

Qualifications

  • ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1.5+ years of new and existing buildings structural engineering design experience, including the design of concrete, steel, masonry, wood materials
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
  • Knowledge and experience in Revit, with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed
  • Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as RISA, RAM Structural System, E-TABS, MathCAD, TEDDS, ENERCALC and other similar structural related design software
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development and ability to grow through feedback
  • Basic understanding of building materials, overall systems and assemblies

 

Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000
