Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift

Job Summary:

The Medical Director, Clinical Development – MRD Portfolio is a key physician leader responsible for shaping and executing the clinical development strategy for Labcorp Oncology's minimal residual disease (MRD) portfolio across solid tumors. This individual will provide medical leadership for the development, validation, and clinical adoption of MRD and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA)-based technologies, advancing precision oncology through innovative molecular diagnostics that improve patient outcomes across the cancer care continuum.

As the clinical development lead for the MRD portfolio, this role will drive the generation of clinical evidence required to support product development, clinical validity, utility, reimbursement, guideline inclusion, and integration into routine oncology practice. The Medical Director will lead a team of disease-focused clinical development physicians and work closely with partners across research and development, operations, biostatistics, medical affairs, market access, regulatory affairs, commercial, and executive leadership to develop and execute a cohesive clinical strategy across multiple tumor types and indications.

The successful candidate will be a board-certified medical oncologist with broad expertise across solid tumors, a strong background in clinical research and development, and a passion for advancing the role of molecular diagnostics in cancer care. This individual will serve as a key scientific representative for Labcorp Oncology, partnering with leading investigators, professional societies, cooperative groups, payers, and other external stakeholders to establish MRD testing as a critical component of personalized cancer management.

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of clinical studies and evidence-generation programs that establish the clinical validity, clinical utility, and health-economic value of MRD testing.
  • Direct clinical strategies supporting MRD applications, including minimal residual disease detection, recurrence monitoring, treatment response assessment, risk stratification, treatment selection, and clinical trial enrichment.
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical studies that support integration of MRD testing into clinical care pathways and routine oncology practice.
  • Partner with operations, biostatistics, R&D, and market access teams on study design, protocol development, endpoint selection, statistical analysis plans, study oversight, and interpretation of results.

  • Oversee study execution in partnership with medical operations, including protocol development, site selection, enrollment strategy, timeline management, budget oversight, and study governance.
  • Translate emerging clinical data into actionable clinical development recommendations and portfolio strategies.
  • Support investigator-initiated studies, strategic research collaborations, and real-world evidence programs that expand the evidence base supporting MRD testing.

Portfolio and Product Leadership

  • Provide medical leadership for the MRD portfolio throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development through commercialization and lifecycle management.
  • Advise on product development strategy by identifying unmet clinical needs, new indication opportunities, emerging market trends, and future applications of MRD technologies.
  • Define intended use populations, clinical claims, test report content, validation requirements, and evidence-generation strategies necessary to support product development and adoption.
  • Partner with R&D teams to guide assay development, biomarker strategy, and next-generation product innovation.
  • Evaluate competitive technologies, emerging biomarkers, and evolving standards of care to inform portfolio strategy and prioritization.
  • Provide clinical input into product roadmaps, indication expansion opportunities, and future growth areas within the oncology portfolio.

Clinical Utility, Market Access, and Adoption

  • Partner with market access teams to develop and execute evidence-generation strategies supporting payer coverage, reimbursement, and health-system adoption.
  • Provide medical leadership for studies designed to demonstrate clinical utility, impact on physician decision-making, patient outcomes, and economic value.
  • Support interactions with payers, policy stakeholders, and guideline organizations by communicating the clinical rationale and value proposition of MRD testing.
  • Contribute to strategies supporting inclusion of MRD testing within clinical practice guidelines, treatment pathways, and value-based care models.
  • Ensure clinical development priorities and evidence-generation plans align with reimbursement, market access, and adoption objectives.
