Description

Who we are

Lawrence Hall is a Chicago-based nonprofit social services agency that provides therapeutic, wellness, and skill development services to youth, families, and neighborhoods affected by lasting trauma. We foster healing and growth through empowerment, respect, safety, and teamwork.

Our Child & Family Treatment Center (CFTC) is a 24-hour residential program for DCFS- and ISBE-referred youth ages 818 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. With a trauma-informed, outcomes-driven approach, we help youth heal from abuse, neglect, and trauma while building the skills they need to thrive.

About the Role

Reports directly to the Vice President of Residential and provides leadership, supervision, and clinical direction to the Licensed Milieu Supervisors (LMS) within the Child & Family Treatment Center (CFTC).

The primary purpose of this position is to leverage clinical expertise to identify gaps in services and develop partnerships with internal and external providers that enhance treatment and improve outcomes for youth. With leadership approval, the Clinical Manager is responsible for establishing collaborative relationships, facilitating contracts or service agreements as needed, and integrating new clinical or supportive services into the residential program.

The Clinical Manager provides program-wide clinical leadership by fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring treatment planning remains youth-centered, trauma-informed, and aligned with agency standards. This position oversees the implementation and coordination of clinical initiatives, supports the development of effective service delivery models, and promotes consistency across residential programming.

In addition, the Clinical Manager serves as a clinical resource to the program by participating in staffings, court hearings, Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs), and other youth-related meetings when additional clinical support is needed or when a Licensed Milieu Supervisor is unavailable. The position also provides coverage for vacant LMS positions to ensure continuity of clinical oversight, support to Core Teams, and uninterrupted guidance to residential staff.

Lawrence Hall fosters a culture built upon four core values: Respect, Empowerment, Safety, and Teamwork. These values are deeply embedded within our organization's philosophy of trauma-informed care and directly influence every position. This position must be able to effectively use both verbal and physical intervention skills with individuals six (6) through twenty-one (21) years of age. Physical intervention skills require the ability to kneel and return to standing without assistance

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management to Licensed Milieu Supervisors (LMS), promoting professional growth, accountability, and high-quality clinical practice.
  • Ensure fidelity to the CARE Model, trauma-informed care principles, and evidence-based treatment interventions throughout residential programming.
  • Oversee the delivery of clinical services from intake through discharge, ensuring individualized treatment planning, continuity of care, permanency planning, crisis response, and successful transitions.
  • Provide clinical leadership and consultation to multidisciplinary teams, facilitating Core Teams, Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs), clinical staffings, court participation, utilization reviews, and other meetings as needed.
  • Provide coverage for vacant LMS positions to ensure continuity of clinical oversight, supervision, documentation review, and treatment planning.
  • Identify service gaps and develop collaborative partnerships with internal and external providers to expand clinical services, coordinate contracts or service agreements, and integrate services into residential programming.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with youth, families, DCFS, Managed Care Organizations, schools, hospitals, legal representatives, probation, community providers, and other stakeholders to promote coordinated, youth-centered care.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable DCFS, Medicaid, COA, Rule 390, Rule 325, Performance-Based Contract requirements, agency policies, documentation standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Review, approve, and monitor clinical documentation, assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, and permanent records to ensure quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Utilize data, outcome measures, audits, monitor tools, PQI, and Quality Improvement initiatives to evaluate program performance, identify trends, and implement continuous quality improvement strategies.
  • Monitor program operations, staffing patterns, work schedules, and clinical service delivery to ensure safe, effective, and compliant treatment services.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, supervise, evaluate, and recommend disciplinary action or termination of staff while fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.
  • Provide reflective supervision, facilitate regular staff meetings, support conflict resolution, and promote employee well-being through recognition of secondary traumatic stress and resilience-building practices.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training related to trauma-informed care, clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and program needs while ensuring required staff training compliance.
  • Promote a trauma-informed culture by integrating the principles of Safety, Self-Regulation, Supportive Relationships, Strengths, and Self-Care into supervision, treatment planning, staff development, and daily operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural humility, professionalism, and effective communication while fostering an environment of dignity, respect, healing, and recovery.
  • Participate in agency committees, strategic planning, accreditation activities, policy development, and other organizational initiatives supporting the mission and vision of Lawrence Hall.
  • Participate in the agency's after-hours on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Residential to support the operational and clinical needs of the Child & Family Treatment Center.
