🚀 Project Overview
This role bridges the gap between quality engineering and core backend development. The initial phase focuses heavily on establishing a robust automated testing foundation before transitioning into broader backend feature engineering. Your primary goal is to elevate software quality and engineering efficiency by architecting Playwright and TypeScript automation frameworks while actively contributing Java or Kotlin code to backend production services to ensure high platform reliability and seamless pipeline integration.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
- Backend Production Engineering: Contribute directly to the backend production codebase using Java or Kotlin, expanding beyond traditional test-only scripts.
- Test Automation & Framework Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks using TypeScript and Playwright.
- Comprehensive Test Suite Creation: Write clear, maintainable, and robust functional, integration, and API test cases to validate backend services and user interfaces.
- CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous automated execution during build cycles.
- Debugging & Root-Cause Analysis: Diagnose complex system failures, perform root-cause analysis on failing test builds, and troubleshoot technical defects across the stack.
💡 Must-Have Skills
- Backend Development: Strong professional backend engineering experience with hands-on development skills in Java or Kotlin.
- Front-End & Automation Stack: Advanced TypeScript skills paired with hands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks in Playwright.
- Testing Breadth: Proven track record authoring functional, integration, and API test suites.
- DevOps Execution: Practical experience working with CI/CD pipelines for automated test execution.
- Dual Mindset: Ability to contribute independently to production feature code as well as automated test architecture.
- Agile & Remote: Proven experience working efficiently within remote, distributed Agile teams.
- Language: Fluent English for daily written and spoken technical communication.

- Cloud & Microservices: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes), or microservice architectures.
- Specialized Testing: Exposure to performance, reliability, accessibility (a11y), or contract testing.
- API & Workflow Tooling: Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Git version control, and PR workflows.
- Platform Testing: Familiarity with web and mobile web testing tools.
🌐 Time Zone & Collaboration
This 100% remote role requires daily collaboration with international teams aligned to EST (±2 hours). Flexibility to overlap core working hours with North American engineering teams is expected.
