Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior FLS Engineer to join our team! The Senior FLS Engineer ensures the operational readiness, code compliance, and continuous reliability of all fire protection and life safety systems across city assets, public realms, and infrastructure. This role bridges the gap between asset handover and long-term operations, ensuring the public environment remains safe and fully compliant with local and international standards.
What you'll be doing:
1. Operational Maintenance & Assurance
System Reliability: Oversee the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), corrective maintenance, and testing of active and passive FLS systems.
Critical Infrastructure: Manage fire suppression, fire alarms, smoke control, emergency lighting, and voice evacuation systems across diverse city zones.
Root Cause Analysis: Lead technical investigations into system faults, false alarms, or equipment failures, and implement permanent corrective actions.
2. Handover & Testing Coordination
Asset Transition: Review and sign off on FLS as-built drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, and operations manuals during the testing and commissioning phase from construction to city operations.
Defect Liability: Identify, log, and track FLS-related defects during the warranty period, ensuring contractors resolve issues without impacting city operations.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
Code Enforcement: Ensure all facility modifications and operations comply with the local Building Code, Civil Defence regulations, and NFPA standards.
Permit Management: Manage and approve high-risk operational permits, including hot work and temporary impairments to the city's fire protection networks.
Authority Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for local Civil Defence inspectors during routine audits or emergency planning.
4. Risk Management & Safety Audits
Safety Assessments: Conduct regular fire risk assessments (FRA) across public spaces, commercial zones, and infrastructure assets.
Emergency Preparedness: Support the emergency management team in designing and executing crowd management plans, evacuation drills, and business continuity strategies.
What required skills you'll bring:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a highly related field.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in FLS engineering, with a strong focus on the operations, maintenance, and handover phases of large-scale mixed-use developments or municipal infrastructure.
Technical Standards: Knowledge of NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 10, 13, 25, 72, 92, 101) and regional national building codes.
Certifications: Professional registration with national engineering bodies or certifications like CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) are highly preferred.
Saudi Nationals only.
