POSITION PURPOSE
Manage day to day operations of high volume Food and Nutrition Services within Trinity Health- St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, including hiring, training and retaining an excellent staff, delivering outstanding hospitality, food cost, labor cost, teaching and learning, sanitation, safety and cleanliness, adherence to all company policies and procedures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop customer partnerships and grow the business within the hospital.
2. Communicate and train all aspects of hospital programs and standards to management and hourly teams.
3. Supervise the activities of food service personnel. Interviewing, making decisions for hiring, orientation, evaluating and training for coffee shop and Marketplace associates.
4. Drive your team in the areas of new product introductions and promotional programs; help to guide implementation of these items and provide training.
5. Works with with Patient Services Manager and Executive Chef in the development of area budget for supplies and manpower. Develops plans to increase revenue and lower expense based on department and hospital budget. Along with setting targets and projections to stay within established range.
6. Maintains favorable working relationship with departments, commercial vendors, service representatives, and technical system support staff to ensure uninterrupted or minimal interruptions to operations.
7. Participates with the Management Team in developing plans to reduce expenses and keep within financial targets.
8. Leads and or participates on hospital/system initiatives and programs which support staff, patients and community.
9. Ability to learn, transfer learning, train and hold shift leaders accountable for knowing, demonstrating and effectively utilizing systems, tools, processes, and equipment which enable customer loyalty and increased profitability.
10. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
11. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
12. Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMH.
13. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shift Hours are variable, ( Primarily Afternoons with variable weekends)
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Education:
High School Diploma required
Experience: 3-5 years of increasingly responsible restaurant/food service/ supervisory experience Certification/Licensure: Serv-safe Certification required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications including MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
2. Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to interface effectively with all levels of management in the field and at the SSP corporate offices 3. Ability to effectively influence through knowledge, relationship management and trust.
4. Ability to conduct gap analysis between desired and current state of expressed goals, based on business planning ,knowledge or basic business operations, employee satisfaction, consumer satisfaction and marketing effectiveness.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication, including delivering presentations at public meetings
6. Effective organizational maturity to prioritize daily, weekly, monthly and yearly activities.
