ABOUT SLATE
At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.
| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Slate is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to lead, schedule, and maintain the growing fleet of company-owned vehicles used for PR, marketing, and influencer programs. This leader is responsible for keeping every fleet vehicle scheduled, maintained, insured, and event-ready, and for working directly with fleet management service providers to place vehicles with media and influencers. The ideal candidate is an independent, hands-on operator who can manage vendors, budgets, and logistics at the same time without losing sight of the details.
| WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Fleet Maintenance and Readiness
Maintain the fleet of Slate's PR, marketing, and influencer vehicles, ensuring every vehicle is clean, functional, and presentation-ready for public-facing use.
Track vehicle condition, mileage, and service history across the fleet.
Coordinate repairs, detailing, and recall or software updates to minimize vehicle downtime.
Media & Influencer Scheduling
Work with fleet management services to schedule media and influencer vehicle loans, pickups, and drop-offs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet vendors coordinating vehicle placement with press and content creators.
Track vehicle availability against the PR and marketing team's editorial and campaign calendars, resolving scheduling conflicts proactively.
Logistics & Scheduling
Own day-to-day scheduling and transportation logistics for events, photo/video shoots, and media drives.
Coordinate pickup, delivery, and transport of vehicles across markets, working with transport vendors as needed.
Maintain a real-time view of fleet location, availability, and utilization.
Maintenance & Vendor Management
Manage relationships with dealerships, service centers, and detailing vendors, negotiating rates and service agreements.
Build and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for the fleet.
Evaluate and onboard new fleet management or logistics vendors as the program scales.
Budget Ownership
Own the fleet budget, including in-fleeting, maintenance, insurance, logistics, and de-fleeting.
Track and report spend against budget, identifying opportunities to reduce cost per vehicle.
Partner with Finance on forecasting and budget planning as the fleet grows.
Compliance, Insurance & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of registration, titling, and insurance for every vehicle in the fleet.
Ensure all vehicles meet applicable safety, DOT, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain documentation of vehicle condition, mileage, and chain of custody during media and influencer loans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Marketing, PR, and Experiential teams to align fleet availability with campaign and event needs.
Provide accurate, up-to-date vehicle information and availability to internal stakeholders.
Bring process improvements and scalable systems to fleet operations as the program grows.
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain accurate fleet records and documentation.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience managing a vehicle fleet, ideally in an automotive PR, marketing, or commercial environment.
Experience working with fleet management service providers and media/influencer vehicle loan programs.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Smartsheets, Microsoft Office Suite and fleet management software.
Experience with vendor and budget management tools.
Comfortable using scheduling and logistics platforms.
Core Competencies
Exceptional organizational skills and an obsessive attention to detail — nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple vehicles, vendors, and deadlines at once.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across internal teams, vendors, media, and influencers.
Self-starter who can operate independently in a remote role and make sound decisions under time pressure.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over the condition and readiness of every vehicle in the fleet.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in automotive PR, brand ambassador programs, or experiential marketing.
Knowledge of, or interest in, the automotive and electric vehicle industries.
Experience negotiating vendor contracts and managing a department budget.
SALARY RANGE
