ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
This is a permanent part-time (30 hours per week) role base on the 4th Floor at our East Melbourne site. We are a 31 bed, mixed surgical ward, incorporating the Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit. We specialise predominantly in post-operative ENT and plastics/reconstructive care, with additional breast, urology/gynaecology surgery and occasional medical oncology specialties.
We pride ourselves on teamwork and are seeking a motivated registered nurse with ward-based nursing experience to join our team.
We work closely with our team of surgeons to provide excellent patient care and place a strong emphasis on education and developing your nursing and leadership skillset. Supported further studies in plastics/reconstruction available.
As a valued member of our team this role will see you:
Provide post-operative patient care including clinical assessment, basic ward nursing duties and wound management for a wide range of surgical patients
Work with your buddy nurse in a team nursing model of care
Act as a mentor, preceptor & resource for new and junior staff
Contribute to ongoing ward improvement through quality improvement projects and auditing
Collaborate with consultants and the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient centred care

ABOUT YOU:
As an outstanding Registered Nurse, passionate about patient care you skills will include:
Current AHPRA registration as a registered nurse
Recent postoperative surgical ward experience (background in one of the above specialties is desirable)
Excellent communication, time management skills and critical thinking ability
Values consistent with those of St Vincent’s Private Hospital
