Position: Operation Supervisor

We are seeking for an experienced Operation Supervisor to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).

Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily earthmoving and mining operations including loading, hauling, dozing, road maintenance, and auxiliary services.

  • Execute operational plans and shift targets in line with the mine schedule and production goals.

  • Allocate and monitor fleet and manpower to ensure optimal equipment utilization.

  • Conduct pit inspections to ensure compliance with design parameters, road standards, and safe operating procedures.

  • Monitor production KPIs such as cycle times, loads per hour, equipment availability, and productivity.

  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks in real time.

  • Coordinate closely with dispatch, maintenance, and planning teams to ensure smooth shift execution.

  • Lead pre-start meetings and ensure all personnel understand shift objectives and safety requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety standards, procedures, and legal requirements.

  • Responsible for carrying out HSE activities according to HSE Plan

  • Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with Lock Out–Tag Out and other safety procedures.

  • Report and escalate unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses.

  • Actively participate in safety inspections and incident investigations.

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Ensure operations comply with environmental standards, including dust suppression, road maintenance, and waste management.

  • Promote good housekeeping practices in all operational areas.

  • Report and respond to environmental incidents in a timely manner.

People & Resource Management

  • Supervise and lead equipment operators, spotters, and other field personnel.

  • Manage shift rosters, breaks, and crew assignments.

  • Provide on-the-job coaching and performance feedback.

  • Foster teamwork, discipline, and accountability within the crew.

  • Support the development of operators’ skills through mentoring and training.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mining, Civil Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent industry experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining or earthmoving operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leading hand role or relevant experience with EPSA Group.

  • Strong knowledge of production fleet operations (e.g., excavators, trucks, dozers, graders, loaders).

  • Familiarity with shift planning, production reporting, and operational KPIs.

  • Sound understanding of mine safety and environmental regulations.

  • Experience in open-pit mining or large-scale earthmoving projects.

  • Knowledge of OEM equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Volvo).

  • Familiarity with dispatch systems or fleet management software.

  • Training or certification in leadership or frontline supervision.

  • Valid defensive driving certificate or equipment operator background (an advantage).
