JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Software Engineer is a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex backend and web-facing software systems. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Java or C# .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern cloud-native development practices, as well as the ability to make sound technical decisions within the team's architectural direction. The Senior Software Engineer is expected to operate with minimal supervision, take ownership of major components, and mentor less-experienced engineers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, develop, and maintain native Windows desktop applications and cloud-based services, including RESTful APIs, event-driven services, and relational/NoSQL databases
- Own the design and implementation of key system components or subsystems, translating product requirements into robust, scalable, maintainable solutions aligned with established technical direction
- Support ongoing modernization initiatives for the cloud platform's architecture and infrastructure
- Write high-quality, well-tested, well-documented code; perform thorough code reviews; and continuously improve development processes, tools, and coding standards
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues, including performance and reliability concerns
- Leverage AI-assisted software development tools to improve development efficiency across the SDLC, including coding, debugging, testing, documentation, code reviews, and automation of repetitive tasks.
- Collaborate closely with product management, QA, and other engineering teams, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise
- Strong proficiency in C++ and C# for native Windows application development, and/or C#/ASP.NET (.NET) with JavaScript/TypeScript and ReactJS for cloud service development — versions vary across services and are being modernized
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, memory management, and performance considerations
- Familiarity with software design patterns, SOLID principles, and modular system architecture
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL), API design, messaging/event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis), and system integration
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure); experience with Linux-based deployment environments is a plus
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and support more efficient delivery across the SDLC
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Proven ability to work across both native Windows (C++/C#) and cloud/web (ASP.NET, ReactJS) codebases
- Experience with monorepo tooling (Nx) and micro-frontend architecture
- Deep expertise in native Windows debugging and performance profiling (e.g., WinDbg, Visual Studio Profiler)
- Expertise in performance optimization and security best practices
- Demonstrates strong technical ownership and accountability for delivered results
- Communicates clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborates well within a team while working independently when needed
- Provides constructive feedback and mentorship to help others grow
- Manages priorities effectively and delivers high-quality work with minimal supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
