Description
Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and utility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role supports manufacturing activities by minimizing equipment downtime, performing preventive maintenance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in accordance with PepsiCo safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system issues.
- Repair or replace defective machine components to restore equipment functionality.
- Respond promptly to production breakdowns and minimize downtime.
- Conduct machine inspections and identify potential equipment failures.
Preventive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance activities according to maintenance plans.
- Ensure maintenance records and work orders are completed accurately.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability.
- Support spare parts management and inventory control.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all PepsiCo safety procedures, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
- Comply with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures.
- Support continuous improvement and productivity enhancement projects.
- Suggest equipment modifications to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize machine performance.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair documentation.
- Communicate equipment status and maintenance activities to supervisors and production teams.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures and standard work instructions.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma, Associate Degree, or Technical Certification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechatronics
- Industrial Maintenance
- Automation Engineering
- Related technical fields
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in food & beverage, FMCG, or packaging industries is preferred.
- Familiarity with high-speed production lines is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Motors, drives, and conveyors
- Sensors and automation equipment
- Basic PLC troubleshooting skills (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems is an advantage.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
