Job Description:
We are looking for an AI Search, SEO and SEM Manager - Contract to own Altera’s organic and paid search presence and lead our strategy across the rapidly evolving AI search landscape.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the intersection of marketing, content, web, product, analytics, and growth.
As search behavior evolves, customers are increasingly discovering brands through AI-generated answers, generative search experiences, and LLM-powered assistants. You will help ensure Altera is visible, accurate, and competitive across traditional search results, paid search campaigns, AI Overviews, generative engines, and LLM responses.
What You’ll Do
AI Search
Develop Altera’s strategy across answer engine optimization, generative engine optimization, and AI Overview optimization.
Optimize content for visibility and citation across platforms such as Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity.
Strengthen Altera’s entity authority, structured data, and technical foundations for AI search.
Define and track emerging metrics, including AI citations, generative share of voice, referral traffic, and assisted conversions.
Monitor changes in AI search platforms and adapt strategy as the landscape evolves.
SEO
Own the end-to-end SEO strategy for altera.com and related digital properties.
Lead technical SEO initiatives, including crawlability, indexation, schema, Core Web Vitals, canonicalization, internal linking, and site architecture.
Conduct keyword, competitive, and content-gap research to identify high-value growth opportunities.
Partner with content and web teams to optimize existing pages and develop new content that ranks, engages, and converts.
Incorporate SEO requirements into website redesigns, content migrations, and product launches.
SEM
Develop and manage global paid search campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and other relevant platforms.
Own campaign planning, keyword strategy, audience targeting, bidding, budgets, ad copy, landing-page alignment, and conversion tracking.
Optimize performance across click-through rate, cost per click, conversion rate, cost per acquisition, return on ad spend, and pipeline contribution.
Coordinate paid and organic search strategies to maximize visibility and improve efficiency.
Manage campaign testing, reporting, governance, and agency support as needed.
Analytics and Collaboration
Build integrated reporting across AI search, SEO, and SEM.
Translate performance data into clear recommendations for content, web, product marketing, and campaign teams.
Collaborate with product marketing, brand, engineering, analytics, creative, and regional teams.
Educate stakeholders on search trends, platform changes, and their impact on Altera’s digital visibility.
Manage multiple campaigns, workstreams, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies.
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.
