Overview

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Education Coordinator implements programs to meet the educational and learning needs of the professional staff, orientees, and students. The Coordinator assures department staff demonstrate and validate competency in required skills, as well as hospital department mandatory education requirements.

Responsibilities

- Provides clinical leadership while meeting the educational and informational needs of new employees, experienced staff, and students in the department. - Assists the Manager or management team with operational management including staff selection and evaluation. - Participates in unit, department, and organizational committees and performance improvement activities. - Shares responsibility for the quality of care provided at CM and outside facilities where Heart Center APRNs practice. Contributes to patient care quality initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required and 3-5 years experience APP pediatric experience
    • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred
  • Licensed RN - Kansas OR Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas AND Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri OR Registered Nurse Multistate License MO required upon hire
  • Licensed APRN - MO AND Licensed APRN - KS required upon hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Clinical Nurse Specialist or Licensed Certified Physician Assistant required upon hire
  • Successful completion of national board certification
  • APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred
