Class 11This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for monitoring smokehouses (either batch or continuous) and its corresponding freezers(s).
Responsibilities:
Record tree weights on paper and EIM Hand Held.
Use basic computer and math skills.
Monitor smokehouse internal temperatures and liquid smoke acidity levels in the liquid smoke cabinet.
Set up smokehouses and liquid smoke cabinets before shift.
Must be able to work in a freezer (blast cooler).
Must be able to operate a calculator for determining weights and measures.
Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels
Must have strong communication skills to be able to communicate with various management, Quality Assurance, vendors and USDA.
Must be able to push loaded trees around on a rail system.
Ensure the smokehouses operate properly.
Monitor controls panels, doors, and wet sock water.
Notify management of any smokehouse equipment related break downs or if the department is not running properly.
Responsible for designated smokehouses as well as rotating to other smokehouses when needed.
Ensure the smokehouses are clean before loading, showers are working properly, and draining properly.
Ensure smoke generators work properly to include the following: ensuring that ashes drain properly, place ash pans under generators, ensure that coils work properly, ensure that smoke tubes are cleaned and in order, and install discharge housing.
Keep generator full of sawdust.
Perform general housekeeping duties in the department.
Comply with all LOTO, chemical, and confined spaces rules requirements.
Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements.
Ability and willingness to work adjusted shift times in emergency situations involving the Smokehouse area of the plant.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be willing and able to lift 50 lbs
Must be willing and able to push 2000 lbs meat trees
The Team Member will work in a wet and cold environment
The Team Member will work up to 12 hours if needed
Ability and willingness to climb stairs.
