Job Description for Investigator Grants Manager-II (P2-3)
Preliminary Summary of Responsibilities:
• Responsible for working on opportunities (moderate to high complexity) for developing Investigator Grants Estimates (IGE).
• Develops detailed and accurate IGE at the RFP stage for clinical trials. May also assist on post-award Investigator Grants Estimates as applicable.
• Creates Investigator Grants Estimates utilizing Grant Plan tool based on available protocol and schedule of events.
• Ensures that IGEs are competitive yet realistic, reflecting the needs of the study while adhering to RFP/site requirements.
• Support on rebids for IGE revisions as study protocols are refined, keeping updated grant budgets aligned with any changes to scope, timeline, or requirements.
• Analyzes historical data from previous grants and studies to benchmark costs and ensure the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
• Ensures that all IGEs comply with sponsor specifications, RFP requirements, and any regulatory or institutional requirements.
• Performs quality control activities per the appropriate process/requirements.
• Work together with the Proposal team and SMEs to develop competitive budget strategies for Pre-sales business proposals, ensuring alignment with the Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements.
• Responsible for addressing any client questions or concerns related to IGEs.
• Drive the resolution of complex grant-related challenges, ensuring client-focused analysis and the effective management of study grants PRE & POST AWARD STAGE for successful project outcomes.
• Engage in specific initiatives aimed at enhancing processes, tools, systems, and the overall organization.
• Works across the organization in a matrix environment across multiple time-zones and locations to lead the process, align stakeholders, influence contributors, and complete deliverables.
• Identifies, evaluates, and resolves routine to moderately complex issues around client enquiry requirements and Fortrea capabilities; escalates high-risk or highly complex matters with recommended options.
• Ensures timely delivery of assigned deliverables.
• Provides guidance to less experienced team members on proposal process, tools, timelines, quality expectations, and content standards.
• Completes other appropriate duties, as assigned by the manager, which require similar skills in accordance with business needs and common sense.
• Leads or contributes to ways to improve the efficiency and quality of processes and the resulting deliverables, including content reuse, data accuracy, cycle time, and stakeholder experience.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
• Bachelor’s degree required in related field or equivalent work experience.
• Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.
Experience (Minimum Required):
• A minimum of 6 years of experience within the Clinical Research, Pharma and/or Biotech industry with at least 3 years of experience in grants and budget development.
• Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop accurate and detailed Investigator Grants Estimates.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
• Familiarity with clinical trial budgeting and cost structures (e.g., patient care costs, investigator fees, indirect rates).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Grants management software (e.g., Grants.gov, eRA Commons, or similar platforms).
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple grant estimates and deadlines simultaneously and accuracy in managing financial data.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple budget submissions simultaneously.
• Familiarity with cost accounting standards and regulatory compliance
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for explaining complex financial information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize.
• Demonstrated teamwork, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to work independently.
