Description
[What the role is]
You will be part of the Modelling & Instrumentation Department (MID) in the Environmental Monitoring & Modelling Division (EMMD). MID manages continuous air and water quality monitoring systems, conducts trials and test-bedding of emerging monitoring technologies, and undertakes modelling and research studies. The Modelling and Research Branch conducts air dispersion and water quality modelling studies to assess and quantify the potential impacts of policies, development projects and pollution incidents. The Branch also undertakes research and data analysis to better understand air and water quality issues in Singapore and support NEA’s policies and operations.[What you will be working on]
As part of the team, you will provide technical and project support to Engineers and Scientific Officers in carrying out modelling, research and data analysis. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing water quality data and identifying potentially unreliable or anomalous data.
- Compiling and maintaining information on pollution sources and emissions for air emissions inventories and databases.
- Preparing input data for air and water quality models used to assess the potential impact of new developments, evaluate and track pollution incidents, and identify potential sources of air and water pollution.
- Processing, analysing and presenting environmental monitoring data and model outputs, including supporting model validation.
- Supporting research projects on the sources, characteristics and chemical composition of air and water pollutants.
- Providing technical and field support for the deployment, operation and testing of air and water quality monitoring systems and sampling equipment.
- Supporting the procurement and management of projects, systems and services, including the preparation of quotation and tender documents.
- Working with air and water quality monitoring teams and other stakeholders on monitoring, modelling and research projects.
- Preparing technical documentation, data summaries, reports and presentation materials.
[What we are looking for]
- Diploma in Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Candidates with experience or strong interest in Applied AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Digital Solutions development will be preferred.
- Experience in managing, processing and analysing large datasets.
- Strong analytical, sense-making and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of GIS, programming, data analytics or statistics would be an advantage.
- Meticulous and able to maintain accurate data, records and technical documentation.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn, innovate and improve work processes.
- Ability to undertake technical and research work independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and spoken English, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to undertake fieldwork and support environmental monitoring or sampling activities when required.
