Description

Senior Systems Engineer

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support some of the nation's most critical GEOINT missions. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across complex NSG, ASG, and Intelligence Community environments, guiding the development, integration, and evolution of mission-critical systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who thrives at the intersection of systems architecture, requirements engineering, and enterprise integration.

Your Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical leader responsible for guiding multi-disciplinary engineering efforts across large-scale GEOINT programs. You will help translate mission needs into robust technical solutions, support strategic planning and acquisition efforts, and ensure systems are engineered to meet operational requirements across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Working closely with government stakeholders and engineering teams, you will drive systems integration, requirements traceability, risk management, and technical decision-making throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor mid-level and junior systems engineers across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Guide requirements engineering, solutions engineering, integration, testing, evaluation, and sustainment activities.
  • Support the planning, analysis, and traceability of user requirements, architectures, processes, and system capabilities.
  • Review cloud service capabilities, workflows, scheduling constraints, and enterprise integration challenges.
  • Develop and evaluate solution designs based on evolving mission requirements and emerging technologies.
  • Assist government stakeholders in translating mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements.
  • Perform systems integration activities across complex system-of-systems environments.
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Support strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, and risk management efforts.
  • Analyze and allocate requirements to system architecture components and executing programs.
  • Design and assess interfaces spanning multiple systems, services, organizations, and agencies.
  • Support major systems acquisitions involving NSG, ASG, and Intelligence Community stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline, including:

    • Engineering
    • Physics
    • Mathematics
    • Operations Research
    • Engineering Management
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Management Information Systems
    • Related technical or scientific field
  • Equivalent experience substitution:

    • 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree, or
    • 2 additional years of relevant experience with a non-STEM degree
  • 12+ years of experience supporting government or industry programs in one or more of the following areas:

    • DoD/IC Acquisition Processes
    • Requirements Development Processes
    • PPBES Processes
    • Systems Engineering for large, complex System-of-Systems environments
    • Service-Oriented Architectures operating in cloud, on-premises, or hybrid infrastructures
  • Demonstrated understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current NSG, ASG, and NRO enterprises.

  • Previous NGA and/or NSG/ASG program experience.

  • Previous Intelligence Community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) program experience.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully pass a polygraph.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, tools, and languages
    • Digital Engineering processes and tools
    • Software Development Frameworks
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification.

  • Documented experience supporting Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) programs.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

  • Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations such as:

    • ACSM
    • ASCE
    • ASPRS
    • OGC
    • SAREM
    • USGIF
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:

    • Photogrammetry
    • Remote Sensing
    • Image Science
    • Information Sciences
    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
    • Geomatics
    • Related GEOINT disciplines
