Position Summary
We are seeking a IT Project Manager to support a hospital IT organization through the planning, construction, and activation of a new healthcare facility.
This role sits at the intersection of IT, construction, and hospital operations, helping the IT team organize, execute and manage decisions, procurements, dependencies, and deployment activities required to successfully open a new hospital.
The ideal candidate brings strong IT PMO and project management experience, with direct exposure to healthcare construction, technology deployment, or major capital projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide IT PMO leadership and day-to-day project management support for a new hospital construction program.
- Develop and manage detailed IT schedules, milestones, decision deadlines, dependencies, and action items.
- Coordinate IT activities with construction, facilities, clinical operations, vendors, and technology teams.
- Drive timely decisions and escalate schedule, budget, procurement, and deployment risks.
- Support technology planning, selection, procurement, delivery, storage, staging, installation, testing, and deployment.
- Track IT equipment and infrastructure including network equipment, WLAN/LAN, peripherals, telecom and communications systems, low-voltage and technology systems, and other hospital IT equipment.
- Coordinate equipment quantities, procurement dates, delivery schedules, storage requirements, installation sequencing, and activation.
- Maintain project documentation, dashboards, decision logs, risk registers, and executive-level reporting in partnership with the IT Field Project Manager.
- Help ensure IT systems and equipment are ready to support hospital activation and opening.
- Serve as a trusted client-facing partner, communicating clearly with hospital IT leaders, project teams, vendors, and construction stakeholders while driving follow-up, decisions, and accountability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex project information into clear executive updates, presentations, action items, and decision points.
- Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 platforms used for project coordination and reporting.
- Experience using project scheduling and tracking tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, or similar platforms to manage milestones, dependencies, deadlines, and overall project progress.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of IT project management, PMO, technology consulting, or related experience.
- Experience supporting healthcare, hospital construction, major capital projects, or complex technology deployments strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, wireless, low-voltage systems, and end-user technology.
- Strong scheduling, organization, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work across IT, construction, clinical, facilities, procurement, and vendor teams.
- Comfortable driving decisions and holding multiple stakeholders accountable to project deadlines.
- PMP or similar project management certification preferred but not required.
This role is ideal for someone who understands how to translate a hospital construction schedule into the IT decisions, procurement activities, and deployment milestones required to open successfully.
