This is an opportunity for a senior CM practitioner who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership capability. You'll play a pivotal role in driving Configuration Management excellence, embedding best practice governance, and partnering with engineering and project leaders to ensure the integrity of product baselines across the full lifecycle.

About the opportunity:

You will be responsible for establishing and improving CM frameworks, leading governance activities, mentoring CM professionals and ensuring projects maintain robust baseline control, configuration governance and change management practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Configuration Management professionals.
  • Allocate and prioritise team workload to support multiple projects and business requirements.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of Configuration Management best practices across the organisation.
  • Provide expert guidance on baseline management, change control, configuration status accounting and audits.
  • Facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and governance activities.
  • Support Project and Engineering Managers in establishing and maintaining project and product baselines.
  • Develop and maintain CM plans, processes, procedures and governance documentation.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of IFS Applications and engineering data management practices.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen CM maturity and business capability.
  • Act as deputy to the Configuration Manager as required.

About you

You are a respected Configuration Management leader with a strong track record of delivering CM governance within complex Defence, engineering or highly regulated environments. You are equally comfortable leading people, influencing stakeholders and solving complex configuration challenges.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Extensive Configuration Management experience across complex engineering or Defence programs.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring CM teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of EIA-649 Configuration Management principles and practices.
  • Experience establishing and governing Configuration Management frameworks across multiple projects.
  • Expertise in baseline management, change management, configuration audits and engineering data management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively across project, engineering and functional teams.
  • Experience with PLM, engineering data management and enterprise business systems.
  • Exposure to IFS Applications or similar ERP/PLM platforms will be highly regarded.
  • Industry-recognised Configuration Management qualifications or equivalent professional experience.

This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide Configuration Management capability while leading a team that supports the delivery of complex Defence programs. You'll work alongside senior engineering and project leaders, drive meaningful process improvement, and play a key role in ensuring successful project outcomes across a growing portfolio.
