Board Members provide strategic guidance, community perspective, and mission-driven leadership to advance SCES’ mission, sustainability, and community impact. They contribute their expertise, networks, and lived experiences to strengthen governance and support the evolving needs of older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers.

Why Serve on our Board?

At Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES), we believe every older adult and adult with a disability deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and connection in the community they call home. Each year, SCES supports thousands of individuals and families through home care, housing stabilization, caregiver support, nutrition, behavioral health, and community-based services that help people age safely and successfully where they choose to live.

Serving on the SCES Board of Directors is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of our communities. Board members provide strategic leadership, governance, and stewardship that shape the future of the organization and ensure it remains innovative, financially sustainable, and responsive to evolving community needs.

As a volunteer Board Member, you will partner with an experienced executive leadership team and a dedicated Board of Directors to guide strategy, strengthen community partnerships, advance equity, and expand the organization's impact across the region. When serving as a board member, your leadership will help ensure that thousands of older adults, caregivers, and adults with disabilities can continue to live safely, independently, and with dignity in the communities they call home.
