Description
Your Opportunity
We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).
At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.
Ready to shape the future of retirement plans at Schwab? In this role, you will lead the development and management of a portfolio of specialized retirement plan offers within Retirement Plan Services: Nonqualified Deferred Compensation, Defined Benefit, Pooled Employer Plans and Multiple Employer Plans, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, Puerto Rico retirement solutions, and Health Savings Account integrations. You will advance offer strategy, turn business priorities into executable plans, and partner across Schwab to deliver offers and client experiences that drive growth, retention, risk management, and operational scalability.
This is a true working-manager role: you will lead a team of direct reports while personally owning one or more offers. You will blend strategic leadership, hands-on offer ownership, people leadership, business case development, and cross-functional execution, working alongside operations, technology, legal, compliance, marketing, relationship management, and finance partners to navigate complex retirement plan capabilities.
In this role, an "offer" refers to a distinct retirement plan product or solution within Retirement Plan Services (for example, Nonqualified Deferred Compensation, Pooled Employer Plans, or Employee Stock Ownership Plans) that is managed across its full lifecycle, including its value proposition, target market, operating model, risk posture, and roadmap.
This role will:
- Own offer strategy and roadmap. Set the direction, priorities, and multi-year roadmap for your offers, aligned with RPS growth objectives, client needs, market trends, regulatory requirements, operational capacity, and technology modernization priorities.
- Lead a portfolio of specialized offers. Oversee NQ, DB, PEP/MEP, ESOP, Puerto Rico, and HSA integration offers, ensuring each has a clear value proposition, target market, operating model, risk posture, and enhancement roadmap.
- Be a working manager and offer owner. Take full ownership of assigned offer(s), including strategy, business requirements, stakeholder alignment, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and near-term and long-term priorities.
- Build and grow a high-performing team. Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, guiding offer strategy, stakeholder engagement, prioritization, executive communications, and delivery accountability.
- Turn strategy into results. Convert priorities into business cases, roadmaps, requirements, decision documents, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes that enable cross-functional partners to execute effectively.
- Inform senior leadership decisions. Synthesize data, client feedback, competitive insights, operational impacts, financial considerations, and risk analysis into concise recommendations, presentations, and decision materials.
- Support offer governance and risk management. Ensure offer decisions consider fiduciary, regulatory, operational, client, participant, technology, financial, and reputational implications, escalating issues and decisions when needed.
- Evaluate market, client, and consultant needs. Monitor retirement industry trends, competitive positioning, consultant expectations, sales opportunities, client feedback, and participant experience needs to identify opportunities for offer enhancements or new capabilities.
- Define success and manage performance. Establish and monitor KPIs, adoption measures, client outcomes, operational indicators, and business value metrics to assess offer health and inform future recommendations.
- Lead through ambiguity and change. Operate effectively as scope, priorities, market needs, and technology dependencies evolve, staying focused on business outcomes and stakeholder alignment.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in retirement services, financial services product management, and business transformation, or platform and operating-model change.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading PEP/MEPs and/or ESOPs, with a strong understanding of their business, operational, regulatory, and client implications.
- Proven ability to translate strategy into executable business outcomes, including business cases, roadmaps, requirements, launch plans, and measurable success criteria.
- Strong decision-making and analytical judgment, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, balance trade-offs, and evaluate business, client, operational, financial, regulatory, and risk implications, including client demand, operational feasibility, technology complexity, and competitive positioning. Comfort operating in a complex, growth-oriented, and dynamic environment where scope evolves as programs advance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize data, develop recommendations, create presentations, and present to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, developing, prioritizing work across a team, and holding team members accountable for high-quality outcomes, with the ability to lead strategic initiatives while personally owning detailed work products, decisions, and deliverables as a working manager.
- Strong product management discipline, including experience managing a product or offer lifecycle from strategy and discovery through requirements, implementation, launch, optimization, and ongoing governance.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership across Product, Operations, Technology, Marketing, Relationship Management, Compliance, Legal, and Finance, with the ability to influence senior leaders without direct reporting authority, build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, resolve competing priorities, and drive alignment across matrixed teams.
- Bachelor's degree
