FACILITIES MANAGER

Fleet Maintenance Unit - Richmond

We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative Facilities Manager to join our Fleet Maintenance Unit and help ensure our site infrastructure, fixed assets, facilities, tools, equipment, and support services are safe, reliable, compliant, and ready to support complex marine maintenance operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a net new leadership role that bridges corporate strategy and site-level execution, supporting operational continuity, regulatory compliance, budget discipline, and practical improvements across facilities and infrastructure management.

 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager, Fleet Maintenance Unit, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the operational readiness, reliability, and compliance of all FMU site infrastructure and fixed assets. This role provides end-to-end oversight of facility maintenance planning, preventive maintenance programs, calibration activities, tools and equipment management, clerical support functions, vendor performance, and facility asset management.

 

The Role

In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of facilities and infrastructure activities that support safe, efficient, and compliant FMU operations. You will ensure facility-related work is completed to required safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting smooth daily operations across the site. Key responsibilities include:

• Oversee day-to-day facility maintenance planning, infrastructure maintenance and repairs, preventive maintenance programs, calibration activities, and fixed asset readiness.
• Manage tools, equipment, facility assets, clerical support functions, and FMU administrative staff to ensure services are delivered consistently and effectively.
• Monitor vendor, contractor, and external service provider performance to support maintenance, project execution, readiness, materials, services, and delivery coordination.
• Provide input to approved corporate strategies established by the General Manager, Fleet Maintenance Unit, and support implementation at the site level.
• Manage assigned budgets and operating results, maintaining financial discipline, visibility, and accountability across assigned business areas.
• Lead minor capital projects and coordinate cross-functional support to ensure infrastructure activities align with operational, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

 

What you bring to the team

You are a collaborative, strategic, and operationally focused facilities leader who brings structure, sound judgement, and strong problem-solving skills to a complex maintenance environment. You are comfortable working across multiple disciplines, strengthening relationships with internal partners, and influencing practical solutions that support safety, compliance, reliability, and operational performance.

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a closely related discipline.
• A Trades Qualification in one or more disciplines or a Marine Certificate of Competency.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Seven or more years of experience in a management or supervisory capacity within a shipyard, maintenance, or industrial facility.
• Six or more years of facilities management experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Five or more years of proven experience managing or implementing complex projects.
• Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to set goals, initiate improvements, and support functional strategy.

Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline, a Marine Certificate of Competency, a Professional Engineer designation, and Project Management Professional certification.

Additional information

This is a regular full-time position. While the target salary for the role is up to $123,100.00 per annum, consideration will be given to the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, and performance related to this role.
