Overview

Job Summary

 

Provides preventative maintenance and repair of the Distribution Center’s building operating systems and equipment.  Regularly monitors and checks systems (i.e. refrigeration, fire, etc.). Addresses and communicates building operations issues.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors, maintains and repairs Ammonia Refrigeration system.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs of building operations (i.e. minor electrical issues, air compressor services, dock doors, automatic operation doors, exit/entrance doors, storage racks, dock levers, etc.).
  • Monitors fire system, including weekly fire sprinkler valves and pump checks, replacement of broken sprinkler heads and fire alarm issues.
  • Communicates directly with Facility Maintenance Manager regarding any/all building issues.
  • Addresses miscellaneous light maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Participates in Warehouse Emergency Response program.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures and policies are followed.
  • Communicates, directs and assists outside contractors with projects or contracted repairs.
  • Works in a safe manner, maintaining a clean, neat and orderly work area that complies with OSHA standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of building maintenance, ammonia refrigeration, material handling equipment or equivalent experience.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration, AC electrical, hydraulic and fire protection systems as well as material handling equipment.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of electronic controls.
  • Apply general maintenance and mechanical skills as well as a working knowledge of shop tools and equipment.
  • Analyze and identify system failures and items in need of repair.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and self-direction to perform a variety of simultaneous skills (multi-tasking), effectively managing time to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and ability to apply spill containment plans.
  • Obtain necessary licensing / certification to operate required equipment / machines.
  • Push and pull hand trucks, push carts and pallet jacks containing loads of substantial weight.
  • Lift heavy weights, up to 50 lbs., occasionally.
  • Perform all tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

Machines and Equipment Operated:

  • Aerial Work Platform, Man-Up lift, overhead cranes, personnel carriers, equipment lifts, etc.
  • Arbor press, chop saws, circular saws, power hacksaws, drills, grinders, and assorted manual and powered hand tools, steam cleaners, welder.
  • Fall protection equipment
  • Hydraulic hose coupler press
  • Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, 10-key, fax machine, telephone, etc.).
