Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Perioperative Support Specialist, you will directly assist in the smooth daily operations of the PACU, OR, or GI Lab under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Your support will be crucial for maintaining efficient patient flow and a clean, well-equipped care environment. Every day, you will perform routine and delegated ancillary duties according to established standards and policies, collaborating closely with nursing staff. This includes actively assisting nurses in preparing patients for surgery and facilitating their safe transport within the perioperative areas. You will also diligently help maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of essential equipment and supplies within the care environment. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting patient care and operational efficiency. You will exhibit excellent teamwork skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow directions accurately, all while helping to ensure a safe and organized setting for patients and staff.

  • Performs the safe, timely transport of patients interdepartmentally and upon discharge.
  • Assists in the cleaning, sterilization, setup and maintenance of equipment (e.g., clean canisters, anesthesia circuits and suctions, monitoring lines, LMAs and laryngoscope blades).
  • Cleans operating room suites or procedure rooms between cases.
  • Assists with terminal cleaning of operating room as requested.
  • Puts equipment, supplies, and instruments away.
  • Assists in prepping room for the next patient.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association

Preferred

  • Previous experience in hospital setting and surgical services
