Pharmacy Assistant - Compounding Unit | Full Time 35 hours

The Pharmacy Assistant will be responsible for the following:

• Participation in the organising and assisting in the day-to-day workflow of the Pharmacy Compounding Unit in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Adhering to all health and safety practices within the Pharmacy Compounding Unit and ensuring that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used appropriately when required.
• Participation in maintaining appropriate levels of aseptic consumables, including gowns, gloves, masks, disinfectants, cleaning materials, labels, fluids and other materials required for the operation of the unit.
• Receiving, checking, barcode scanning and transferring pharmaceutical products, consumables and other materials required by the Pharmacy Compounding Unit.
• Performing routine decontamination and cleaning activities within designated areas of the Pharmacy Compounding Unit, including washing and cleaning of trays and other reusable items, equipment and room shelving and storage containers.
• Performing the required decontamination of materials and designated areas between the pharmacy administration area and preparation/cleanroom areas.
• Waste and recycling disposal
• Assisting with the delivery of manufactured products to ward staff/ areas as required.
• Clerical duties, including, filing of prescriptions, worksheets and other departmental records, shredding and disposal of confidential documentation.
• Reporting any discrepancies, damaged stock, equipment faults, environmental concerns, spills, incidents or deviations from procedure encountered, to the appropriate pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
• Participation in quarterly stock takes
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times in relation to patients, medicines, clinical information and departmental business.
• Attending pharmacy team meetings, training sessions and other meetings as required.
• Performance of other duties appropriate to the post as maybe assigned by the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. 

The ideal candidate will on the closing date of application for this position:

• Have obtained an Irish Leaving Certificate

Hold a recognised qualification deemed comparable

• Previous pharmacy/hospital experience is desirable
• Enjoy working in a busy environment, have strong attention to detail.
• Must have basic knowledge of how to use a computer to perform tasks
• Have excellent time management and organisational skills
• Have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills and have the ability to work on his/her own initiative

• Be flexible and capable of working on his/her own initiative
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English both spoken and written is a pre-requisite for this role
• Be eligible to work within the EU
