LEAD, LOGISTICS (OUTBOUND) 

As the Lead, Logistics, you will own day-to-day execution, strategy and continuous improvement of outbound shipping operations that directly support satellite manufacturing and ground infrastructure programs. You will be responsible for managing material flow into and out of production, ensuring on-time delivery of components and finished goods, driving carrier performance, and maintaining reliable logistics processes that meet aggressive production schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and build out logistics and fulfillment solutions that directly support program objectives and overall strategy, ensuring scalable, efficient, and cost-effective supply chain operations for satellite manufacturing and ground infrastructure programs.
  • Manage daily inbound and outbound shipping operations to support satellite manufacturing and ground infrastructure production, ensuring materials and finished products flow efficiently through the supply chain.
  • Oversee carrier performance and on-time delivery metrics for both inbound components and outbound shipments; track performance through operational KPIs and drive corrective actions when targets are missed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Production, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality) to align shipping schedules with production needs and resolve material shortages or delivery issues in real time.
  • Execute sourcing and rate management activities for carriers and logistics providers, including obtaining quotes, negotiating spot rates, and managing ongoing performance with 3PLs and freight partners.
  • Analyze and improve outbound transportation methods, routing, and packaging to reduce cost, transit time, and damage while supporting high-mix, high-volume manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards and KPIs that provide visibility into shipping performance, carrier reliability, and fulfillment status for manufacturing and ground infrastructure programs.
  • Lead cost-reduction and process improvement initiatives focused on shipping operations, including mode optimization, packaging improvements, and freight consolidation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable shipping regulations, including customs, Incoterms, hazardous materials (as required), and export control requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for shipping and logistics issues, leading root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions with carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Document and standardize best practices for shipping processes, material handling, and packaging to improve consistency and efficiency across operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of experience managing inbound and outbound shipping operations, fulfillment, or transportation in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • 3+ years of experience overseeing carrier performance, on-time delivery, and logistics KPIs.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, including leading and developing logistics or shipping teams.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field or 5+ years of experience in the field of logistics and supply chain
  • Experience managing domestic and international shipments, including customs and compliance requirements.Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to track performance and drive improvements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating logistics support for production ramps or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, satellite, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with 3PL management, freight forwarding, and both domestic and international transportation modes.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, export compliance, and international shipping requirements.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems and logistics or shipping management platforms.
  • Proven ability to improve shipping processes and reduce logistics costs in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be available to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to support critical milestones or operations shifts.
  • Availability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time as needed to other SpaceX site or customer sites/meetings.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
$115,000.00 - $165,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
