Assisting with complex rig moves, preparing, and executing lift plans, and providing on-site supervision for the crane operator team to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant heavy-lift operations.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the crane operator team during all lifting activities, ensure clear communication and adherence to safe load control.
- Perform designed lifting plans to ensure both rigging gear and loads are protected, perform correct hand signaling and maintain constant communication.
- Identify load weights and calculate required sling sizes, sling angle stresses, and center of gravity (COG). Utilize bridge and crane load charts and unit conversion charts (Metric/Imperial) for all lift arrangements.
- Conduct detailed pre-lift inspections of all rigging equipment to ensure zero defects and compliance with OEM guidelines; inspect, assemble, and dismantle rigging setups.
- Ensure all operations strictly follow GE Vernova standards, report hazards immediately, and maintain accurate documentation of all activities.
- Act as a team player, providing leadership on the shop floor to maintain a culture of safety.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma or higher.
- Ability to read/write instructions in English, and effectively present information to the rigger team.
Desired Characteristics:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Rigger 1 in an industrial setting.
- Valid Rigger Level 1 certification.
- Proficient in determining necessary tools/equipment, applying logic/reasoning to solve rigging challenges, and interpreting load charts.
