What you'll do...
Role summary:The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, leads the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, managing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The position requires coordinating field teams, mentoring technicians, and supporting critical business operations through timely service and technical expertise. The Senior Technician also oversees parts inventory, vendor relationships, and special projects, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence within facility services.
About the team:
This team supports 11 stores from Albany to Eugene, ensuring facilities and equipment operate safely and efficiently. Members perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections while adhering to safety and quality standards. They collaborate to manage work orders, coordinate contractors, and maintain parts inventory. The team provides hands-on training and guidance to associates, fostering skill development and operational excellence. Focused on maintaining high standards, the team plays a vital role in sustaining store functionality and supporting business priorities across multiple locations.
What you'll do:
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues to ensure optimal system performance.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Manage refrigerant handling, inventory control, and vendor relationships in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs outside regular hours.
- Maintain company vehicles and ensure adherence to safety and operational policies.
What you'll bring:
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant system issues in commercial and industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in coordinating field teams, mentoring technicians, and managing escalated service issues.
- Proficiency in preventive maintenance program implementation to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Effective communication skills for detailed documentation, reporting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Capability to manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service scheduling to meet operational priorities.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
