The Global Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for the implementation and execution of the organization’s Supplier Quality Management System in alignment with the organization’s global policies/procedures and compliance with quality systems (ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO13485 or AS9001 where applicable). As a member of Global Supplier Quality Team, be responsible for oversee the supplier quality performance in the assigned region, addressing the help needed or escalations from sites, participation in supplier assessment, selection and development from a supplier quality perspective. This role will implement and monitor supplier quality management initiatives including supplier qualification, on-going supplier performance management & reviews, process improvements and audits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Joint Develop and communicate organization’s expectations for quality performance, continuous improvement, quality systems, process controls and capabilities to suppliers.
- Assess compliance of suppliers with business required QMS requirements as well as global and divisional policies, standards & procedures.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Conduct supplier risk assessments for global suppliers.
- Development of supplier audit schedule. Conduct supplier quality audits to determine adherence to acceptable quality regulations and requirements. Issue audit observations, development plan(s) and follow-up with suppliers on audit observations to ensure follow through.
- Measure, track, trend and communicate/report supplier quality performance on key metrics and the corresponding continuous improvement plans on a regular (monthly/quarterly) basis.
- Mentor and coach site supplier quality team in best practices in supplier quality systems, process controls, problem solving and statistical tools.
- Lead major/multiple site impacting investigations and resolution of issues with suppliers.
- Contribute to the development, optimization and implementation of global supplier quality management related procedures and systems or tools.
- Develop strong relationships with internal partners that enable swift and continuous improvement with supplier quality and risk mitigation plans.
- Act as an opinion leader in the assigned region in the promotion of supplier quality management ideals, concepts and practices through the Jabil global quality, supply chain and suppliers network.
- Support component qualifications per Jabil part qualification processes, industry, legal and regulatory requirements, such as PPAP.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree with Engineering related major, e.g., Mechanical, Electrical.
Experience:
- 10+ years’ working experience in Engineering, quality engineering or supplier quality management in manufacturing industry, e.g., in Mechanical, Electrical, or IC products.
- 5+ years’ experience as team leader or manager position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a regional/global workforce.
- Experience and demonstrated success of working across cultures.
- Demonstrated track record of effectively influencing without authority with all levels of an organization and leading effective/successful change initiatives.
- Strong experience in development of business process and procedures.
- Strong electro / mechanical background - Knowledge of plastic injection molding & tooling, metal stampings & tooling, metal fabrication, machining and various commodities of products, such as PCB & PCBA, electrical components, connectors, cable assembly, full assembly integration etc. *Needs strong background in at least 2 on this list.
- Capable to read and interpret mechanical drawings, experienced with reading and using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and competent in tolerance stack-ups.
- Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving tools, with experience in statistical analysis of component and process quality including process capability studies (Cpk), Design of Experiments (DOE), gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R), and statistical tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Proficiency in use of computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills in English.
- Energized, able to work and accommodate different time zones.
- Travel ~30%-50%, domestic travel in US with some international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified QMS Auditors for ISO9001, ISO13485, IATF16949, or AS9001, VDA
- Familiarity with and experience in applying Six Sigma methodologies required (Black Belt certification preferred)
- Additional certification such as ASQ CQE, CQM, CQA is highly desirable
- Prior business /commercial (i.e. purchasing, commodity management) experience is a plus.
- Spanish or Chinese language is a plus
