About the Role (Automation & AI Quality Engineering)
We are looking for a highly skilled Mid to Senior Quality Engineer to champion quality as a core engineering discipline. This role goes beyond executing test cases. You will shape our engineering culture by embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle, enabling engineers to build with confi dence through test-driven development (TDD), automation, and AI-powered testing approaches.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Designers, and DevOps engineers to ensure every feature delivered to citizens and public agencies meets the highest standards of reliability, security, performance, and user experience.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building engineering capabilities, coaching teams, and modernising quality engineering practices.
Responsibilities
Champion Quality Engineering
- Define and drive the overall quality engineering strategy for CrowdTaskSG.
- Establish quality standards, testing principles, and engineering best practices across all products.
- Shift quality ownership left by embedding testing early in the development lifecycle.
- Build a strong culture where quality is everyone's responsibility rather than solely the QA team's.
Drive Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Coach engineers in adopting Test-Driven Development and Behaviour-Driven Development where appropriate.
- Review implementation approaches to ensure sufficient unit, integration, API, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Work with engineering leads to ensure new features are designed with testability in mind.
- Advocate for automated regression coverage before production deployment.
Lead Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks
- Continuously improve test execution speed, stability, and maintainability.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable deployments.
Expand automation across:
- Unit testing
- Integration testing
- API testing
- End-to-End UI testing
- Contract testing
- Performance testing
- Security validation
Drive AI-Powered Quality Engineering
- Evaluate and implement AI-assisted testing tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Guide the engineering team in adopting practical AI-driven testing workfl ows that improve speed without compromising quality.
Engineering Enablement
- Mentor software engineers in writing effective automated tests.
- Conduct quality-focused code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Establish engineering guidelines for maintainable and testable code.
- Create reusable testing libraries, frameworks, and utilities that increase team productivity.
- Run internal workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions on modern testing practices.
Quality Governance
- Define and monitor quality metrics
- Recommend improvements based on engineering insights and production data.
- Support incident investigations by identifying quality gaps and preventive measures.
Continuous Improvement
- Continuously evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and engineering practices.
- Improve release confi dence while reducing manual effort.
- Drive initiatives that reduce production defects and improve development velocity.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or Software Engineering.
- Extensive experience designing automated testing frameworks.
- Profi ciency in modern automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or equivalent.
- Strong API testing experience using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with containerised environments and cloud platforms.
- Experience testing distributed systems, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.
AI & Modern Testing
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve software quality.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted coding and testing platforms.
- Understanding of AI-driven test generation, intelligent regression testing, or similar approaches.
- Passion for exploring new technologies that improve engineering productivity.
Engineering Practices
