Overview
We are exclusively representing a global market leader in heavy civil engineering, foundations, diaphragm walls, and geotechnical works to source a GEO-approved Geologist in Hong Kong. This role is tailored for an experienced professional with 5 to 8 years of experience specializing in ground engineering, site supervision, and statutory compliance under Hong Kong's Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) standards. You will provide critical technical leadership on-site, ensuring safety, quality, and precise geological risk management across marquee infrastructure and deep excavation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Logging: Inspect and log rock and soil cores from deep and horizontal directional coring (HDC).
- Site Assessment: Evaluate geological, structural, and hydrogeological conditions for major infrastructure.
- Project Support: Assist with complex ground engineering works, diaphragm walling, and trenchless drilling operations.
- Site Supervision & Technical Compliance: Act as the approved competent geologist on-site, overseeing ground investigation works, soil and rock descriptions, and instrumentation monitoring in compliance with GEO and Buildings Department regulations.
- Stakeholder & Authority Coordination: Liaise closely with clients, main contractors, independent checking engineers, and government departments regarding statutory submissions and geotechnical compliance.
Requirements
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of post-graduate geological and geotechnical engineering experience within the Hong Kong construction and infrastructure sector.
- Statutory Status: Must be a GEO-approved / registered Geologist recognized for site supervision in Hong Kong.
- Sector Background: Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related geotechnical discipline, with deep practical exposure to heavy civil engineering, foundations, cavern storage projects, MTR railway expansions, or deep excavations.
- Qualifications: Professional chartership (e.g., CGeol, HKIE) is strongly preferred.
- Communication: Fluent in English and Cantonese with strong technical report-writing skills.
