Carpenter III

Amentum is seeking a 1st shift Carpenter III to join our facilities maintenance team in Des Moines, IA. 

Typical hours: Monday-Friday, 1st shift; overtime and hours may vary based on customer demand.

This position provides skilled labor support for facility safety and infrastructure needs, including installing and removing signage, guard rails, sign posts, and elevated Lock‑Out Tag‑Out tags, as well as performing general carpentry tasks. The position ensures all work is completed with professional level quality, proper tool maintenance, and strict adherence to safety, PPE, and equipment‑operation standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Sign installation and removal 
• Guard railing installation 
• Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) tags
• Sign post installation 
• General carpentry (cutting, fitting, and fastening wood and other materials for structural projects)
• Deliver professional, tradesman-level workmanship. 
• Maintain and clean all assigned tools, paint guns, hoses, equipment, and safety devices.  
• Provide support to wastewater operations including, but not limited to; monitoring, adjusting, and cleaning of process treatment equipment, lab testing of waste streams
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• 3 years of experience

• Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.

• This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.

Physical/Special Requirements:

• Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
• Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
• Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
• Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
• Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
• Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
• Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
• Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
• Wear steel toe/Metatarsal safety footwear, safety glasses, gloves, bump/hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a Wastewater Treatment Operator in water / wastewater treatment

Other Attributes:

• Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays & weekends.

       

Compensation Details:

$25 - $28
